Program Options

Head Start (for children ages 3-5 years old)
Early Head Start (EHS) (for pregnant moms-3 years old)
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) (for 4 year old children)

Center Base: Full Day (September – May)

  • 7 hours a day, 4 days a week Monday – Thursday
  • To be eligible for this option, parents must be working or going to school a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Center Base: Full Day Full Year (September – August)

  • 7 hours a day, 4 days a week Monday – Thursday
  • To be eligible for this option, parents must be working or going to school a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Home Base

  • Families receive a minimum of 48 weekly, 1½-hours home visits per year
  • Bi-weekly socializations
  • Monthly Family Activity Night

Child Care Partners

  • 7 hours a day with extended care, 4 days a week Monday – Thursday
  • There is a fee for extended child care (child care outside of Head Start/EHS hours of service)
  • To be eligible for this option, parents must be working or going to school a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Eligibility & Selection

Head Start, EHS and GSRP are child development programs for low-income families.

Eligibility selection is based on a point system. Children are placed according to the points received.

Points are based on age, income, parental status, family situation, special needs and other factors.

Application

To start the enrollment process, call the main office at (989) 752-2193, ext. 2235 and schedule an

appointment. During the appointment, a staff member will assist you in filling out the necessary

paperwork.

The following items are required when the application is taken:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of income for the past thirty days (Pay stubs, SSI, and/or DHS Statements, W-2)
  • Current Immunizations
  • Proof of Medical Insurance
  • WIC verification (If currently enrolled)
  • Proof of Residency (Driver’s license or Utility bill)
